IAAI Foundation Academic Scholarship

The IAAI Foundation Academic Scholarship provides financial assistance to students pursuing formal education, at an appropriately accredited college or university, in a curriculum consistent with the mission of the International Association of Arson Investigators (e.g., Fire or Forensic Science - with emphasis on fire investigation, Fire/Explosion Investigation, Fire Protection Engineering). This scholarship is supported by the IAAI Foundation and its benefactor partners. One scholarship, up to $5,000, may be awarded annually, at the discretion of the IAAI Foundation Board of Directors. The scholarship funds may be spent on tuition, books and other course fees.

Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program with junior or senior standing, and be a current IAAI member or the legal dependent of a current IAAI member. Applicants must submit an application, along with a narrative describing their eligibility, goals, need and involvement in the industry as well as any community service experience. Confirmation of enrollment and a grade report for the prior semester shall accompany the application. Funds disbursed directly to the successful applicant's college or university.

Applications must be received by October 1, annually, for the school year commencing in the fall of that same year. Applications must be complete, accurate and submitted using the current IAAI Foundation process, including forms and dates. Awardees will be notified prior to April 1 of the award year.

All Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the IAAI Foundation Board. All applications for any Scholarship must be complete and submitted as per the guidelines set forth at the time of application. Failure to comply with all aspects of the process will invalidate the application.

IAAI Foundation ITC Training Scholarship

The IAAI Foundation may award up to five ITC Training scholarships annually. The scholarship program is not designed to cover all of the costs of ITC attendance, but rather to offset specific costs which would afford applicants a greater opportunity to attend the ITC. Successful applicants receive up to a $1,000 scholarship to assist with their registration and lodging costs to attend the ITC.

To be eligible, applicants must be a current IAAI member or current IAAI Chapter member both at the time of application and at the time of the training event. Applicants must submit an application form prescribed by the IAAI Foundation, along with a short narrative on why they are applying for the scholarship and how the scholarship would benefit them.

Applications for a scholarship to attend the IAAI ITC must be received by August 01 of the year preceding attendance (e.g., apply for the 2021 ITC by August 1, 2020). Successful applicants will be notified after October 1 of the year of application. All applications will expire upon awarding of the scholarship.

All Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the IAAI Foundation Board. All applications for any Scholarship must be complete and submitted as per the guidelines set forth at the time of application. Failure to comply with all aspects of the process will invalidate the application. The funds awarded will be paid directly to the IAAI upon attendance of the ITC. Registration for the event is the responsibility of the applicant. The IAAI will be notified of the Scholarship Award and the amount.

IAAI Foundation Professional Development Scholarship

The IAAI Professional Development Scholarship will be award to IAAI and IAAI Chapter only members, under the same requirements as the ITC Training Scholarships, the registration fee to IAAI regional or local training (e.g., IAAI Expert Witness Testimony Class). This scholarship does not include the IAAI ITC. The training must be in coordination with the IAAI and funds will be paid directly to the IAAI upon completion of the course.

Scholarship applications for an IAAI regional or local training event will be reviewed quarterly, in March, June, September and December. Applications must be received prior to the first day of each review month. Scholarships recipients will be notified by April 15th, July 15th, October 15th and January 15th of each year.

All applications for an IAAI Training Event scholarship will expire at the end of the month when that cycle of scholarships is awarded. Those not receiving a scholarship will have to reapply for any future scholarship. Applicants must submit an application form prescribed by the IAAI Foundation, along with a short narrative on why they are applying for the scholarship and how the scholarship would benefit them.

The IAAI Foundation Board of Directors will determine annually the amount of money available for professional development scholarships.

All Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the IAAI Foundation Board. All applications for any Scholarship must be complete and submitted as per the guidelines set forth at the time of application. Failure to comply with all aspects of the process will invalidate the application. The funds awarded will be paid directly to the IAAI upon attendance of the event. The John H. Primrose IAAI Scholarship Program

The IAAI Foundation, in conjunction with the Primrose Family, will award a single $1000 training scholarship to the annual IAAI ITC. The scholarship program is not designed to cover all of the costs of ITC attendance, but rather to offset specific costs which would afford applicants a greater opportunity to attend the ITC. Successful applicants receive a $1,000 scholarship to assist with their registration and lodging costs to attend the ITC.

The guidelines of this Legacy Scholarship Program have been set forth by the Primrose Family and managed by the Board of the IAAI Foundation. Guidelines for this scholarship require priority be given to members of Public Agencies and special consideration given to Nebraska and Minnesota IAAI State Chapters members. All applicants must be a current IAAI member or current IAAI Chapter member both at the time of application and at the time of the training event. Applicants must submit an application form prescribed by the IAAI Foundation, along with a short narrative on why they are applying for the scholarship and how the scholarship would benefit them.

Applications for The John H Primrose Scholarship to attend the IAAI ITC must be received by August 01 of the year preceding attendance (e.g., apply for the 2024 ITC by August 1, 2023). Successful applicants will be notified after October 1 of the year of application. All applications will expire upon awarding of the scholarship. (Due to the time frame of the establishment of this Scholarship, application deadline for the 2023 ITC award will be February 1, 2023 with the Awardee notified by February 28, 2023. All future awards are subject to the established deadlines.)
