Assistant Professor (Fire & Safety)

The Department of Fire Protection & Paramedicine Sciences in the Eastern Kentucky University, College of Justice, Safety & Military Sciences, seeks to hire a 9 month tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. This position will have an emphasis in one or more of the following degree programs; Fire Protection Administration, Fire and Explosion Investigations, or Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology (FPSET). All three degree programs are accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), while the Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org. The primary responsibility for the candidate will be teaching undergraduate fire protection related courses online and on campus to a diverse range of students. Excellence in, and a commitment to, teaching is essential. A mix of active research, publication, certification/licensures, and experience are also required. A master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent international institution in a relevant discipline is required; doctorate is preferred. The ideal candidate will have practical documented experience in one or more of the following: Forensic investigation of fires and/or explosion incidents; Fire Protection Engineering or directly related fields; Chief level administration of a multifaceted Fire/Emergency services organization.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent international institution in a relevant discipline is required; doctorate is preferred.

Experience: The ideal candidate will have practical documented experience in one or more of the following: Forensic investigation of fires and/or explosion incidents; Fire Protection Engineering or directly related fields; Chief level administration of a multifaceted Fire/Emergency services organization.
