I am located in Minneapolis, MN and am the President/Senior Fire Consultant for Whitemore Fire Consultants, Inc. I have been involved in the fire investigation field since being appointed to the York Fire Department in York, NE in 1974. Since joining the IAAI I have been involved in virtually all aspects of the organization including serving on numerous committees, Board of Directors and Executive offices up to and including President in 1993-94. The following is a brief chronology of my IAAI and professional career:

PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT
  • 1974 - 1980: York Fire Department, York, NE
  • 1980 - 1994: Robins, Kaplan, Miller and Ciresi, Minneapolis, MN
  • 1994 – Present: Whitemore Fire Consultants, Inc.
IAAI HISTORY
  • 1974: Joined the IAAI and the IAAI-NE Chapter
  • 1980: Jointed the IAAI-MN Chapter
  • 1987-1990: Elected to the IAAI Board of Directors
  • 1991-1992: Elected Second Vice President of the IAAI
  • 1992-1993: First Vice President – IAAI
  • 1993: Testified before the United States Senate Commerce Committee on behalf of the fire investigation community in support of the Arson Prevention Act of 1993 (which was signed into law by President Clinton in 1995).

    Testified before the United States House of Representatives Task Force on Natural Disasters appointed by House Speaker Tom Foley. Represented the IAAI in discussing the increase in incendiary fires following natural disasters.
  • 1993-1994: President – IAAI (First President to take the oath of office outside of North America in Auckland, New Zealand).

    Received the IAAI Past Director Award (1994); IAAI Past President's Award (1995); Distinguished Service Award (1995) and IAAI Life Membership Award (2005).
