This classification is the second of a two (2) level series in fire/arson investigation distinguished from the Fire Investigator I position by sworn peace officer status which requires prior training, and/or experience in the occupational field.
The work of the incumbent is generally performed independently following recognized investigative practices and procedures. Incumbents have the responsibility to conduct highly complex and/or sensitive fire investigations.
Performance of this work requires the use of considerable independence, initiative, and discretion within established guidelines. This classification represents the journey level professional.
